Using some of the initial funds raised for the Campaign for the Future, we are very pleased to announce the completed rebuild of the Craft Courts.

These two structures, originally built in the 1940s, are a cornerstone of camp and were in great need of replacement.

Work commenced last October with the demolition of the buildings and our dedicated work crew was here rain and shine during the winter months to make sure the new facilities were finished in time for the 2007 summer sessions.

The new buildings mimic the style of the old Craft Courts but offer some wonderful modern features that campers will soon discover. For starters, the buildings are finished on the inside with lots of lighting and full workbenches running along the back walls. New skylights bring in additional light and help create an expansive space within the buildings.

The north building, or “wet” building, has two sinks and lots of floor space for general arts and fibre arts. The south building or “dry” building has custom cabinetry to store historical documents such as maps and journals.

There is lots of wall space to hang camp artifacts and both buildings have comfortable seating areas to read a book or visit with a new friend.

“Julie’s Porch” received an upgrade and facelift as well and the whole area is now the shining star on the camp grounds.

Many thanks to all of you who made this milestone possible by giving generously to the Campaign for the Future.
